Calix - Threat Research / Network Detection Job Calix - Threat Research / Network Detection Calix provides cloud platforms, software, systems and services for communications service providers. In this role you will work with security engineering and threat intelligence teams to develop, validate and research network intrusion detection capabilities — improving detection signatures, researching emerging threats, and enhancing internal threat intelligence processes. About the Role Collaborate with security engineers and threat researchers to support development and validation of network-based detection logic, perform packet-level analysis, develop and test detection signatures for IPS/NIDS, and improve research workflows through automation and tooling. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with threat researchers and security engineers to analyze network-based attacks and create detection logic. Perform packet-level analysis using PCAPs and tools such as Wireshark or Zeek. Develop and test detection signatures for IPS/NIDS systems (Suricata/Snort or similar). Build and enhance internal tools and automation using Python to accelerate research workflows. Conduct OSINT for emerging threats, IoCs and TTPs to inform detection efforts. Create technical documentation, threat reports and playbooks. Participate in technical discussions throughout the signature development lifecycle. Build simulated attack scenarios to validate detection capabilities. Qualifications Graduated or final-year student of Bachelor's or Master's (2024/2025) in CS, IT, Networking or Cyber Security. Strong understanding of Computer Networking, TCP/IP stack, OSI model and IDS concepts. Familiarity with Cyber Threat Intelligence, MITRE ATT&CK, malware delivery methods and IoCs. Programming skills (Python preferred) to automate analysis and build small utilities. Comfortable on Linux and Windows environments. Experience or coursework in Network Security, Packet Analysis or Cybersecurity is desirable. Good communication, attention to detail and strong research aptitude. Location & Work Model India — Flexible hybrid model. Work from the Bangalore office for 20 days in a quarter (approximate).
